"For I am fearfully and wonderfully made..."

Poems

New poems for the month of November 2008.

RENEW

The Lord has chosen the path I should take
All I have to do is follow where He leads
Though at times the steps I make
Are those that satisfy my selfish needs

Yet even if I fall away from His will
His love, mercy and grace remain
He holds my hands and guides me still
Never letting go even if I caused Him pain

This love He bestows, I do not deserve
So I pray that my heart be renewed each day
To be obedient and willing to serve
To have the zeal to follow God's way.

I wrote this poem for God on June 12, 2003.

WILDCARD

Call me crazy, call me a fool
But I don't know why I'm here in Law School
To be a lawyer WAS my dream
Which has now become distant and dim
I wished to quit years ago
Yet my dad would not let me do so
I'm better off an actor or a writer
Or even a musician and a composer
It's now too late to turn back
Power over time I lack
And my greatest wish so far
Is that I will not pass the bar

I wrote this poem when I was in the Third Year in Law School.  I gave this the title "wildcard" because that was what one of my law teachers called me.  And I agree with him.

RASPBERRY SHAKE, DINUGU-AN FLAVOR

Every hurt, every pain
Leaves a scar in one's heart
Yet you are hideous, malevolent
You not only left a scar
You took my heart
And dumped it in a blender

WHIRRR...

Before you now
Is a thick, slimy soup
Red, rancid, wiggling like jelly
I dare you
Slurp on that fest
You cannibal, you monster

I don't know who I am referring to in this poem but it sure is freaky.

PAIN

Pain
Seething, writhing pain
Why hurt yourself
When you can hurt
The one who caused you pain?

This is really a gloomy poem and the morals presented are so unchristian.  Though, I admit that, sometimes, in my lowest, saddest times, I also think of revenge.

DEPARTURE:  Depression, Desperation, and Death

Please take my heart away
So I cannot feel the pain
Numb me

Please take my thoughts away
So I can cease to ponder
Empty me

Please take my soul away
So I can fly into the heavens
Release me

Another depressing poem.
